USS Kitty Hawk, CV-63 - Academy 14210

The USS Kittyhawk CV-63 was the first of three supercarriers in her class. Launched in 1960. In 1961, she officially joined the Cold War on a cruise to South America, around Cape Horn and San Francisco. She served 48 years in active service and was one of three aircraft carriers honored to fly the First Navy Jack. Decommissioned in 2009, she was replaced by the USS George H W Bush. This 1/800 scale model from Academy is 40cm long when complete and includes an air wing of 58 aircraft.
